Cantonese text read aloud
This Cantonese learning resource allows you to enter Cantonese text and hear it read aloud. You can also enter jyutyping. You can use this app to hear how Chinese text is pronounced. Put the Chinese text (in traditional or simplified or jyutyping romanisation) in the left box then press double click play and in the right box you'll hear the text pronounced. You can also choose to have the text displayed on screen as it is being read. This can be helpful if you are trying to learn how to read Cantonese. There are many different settings that you can use to customize the app to your needs.
For example, you can choose the speed at which the text is read, and whether or not you want to see the Jyutping. This app is a great tool for anyone who wants to learn Cantonese or improve their Cantonese reading skills.
You can start/stop at any time. Each character will be highlighted as it is read. There is a premium (via our Patreon), service option of keeping the characters the same size instead of changing the size as they are read out.
If you see a character that is highlighted in blue, then it means we don't have the pronunciation for that character.
It's a very simple Cantonese tool and this has a male Cantonese voice. We also have an app which reads Mandarin text aloud with a female voice. The audio is generated using Cantonese pronunciation rules, so it should be reasonably accurate. If you do happen to spot any errors, please let us know.
